Episode #63 — Mid-Year Review: AI, Human Limits and the Invisible Work of Facilitation

16/09/2026

In this special mid-year review, co-hosts Paul Nunesdea PhD CPF and Martin Duffy PhD step back from the usual guest format to reflect on some of the most important ideas emerging from the 2026 conversations of Talk to Your Meeting Doctors.

What begins as a review of recent episodes soon becomes a deeper exploration of a central question: as AI gives us more speed, more information and more capacity, are we also creating more pressure, more overload and less space to think?

Drawing on previous conversations about AI, coaching, emotional intelligence, behavioural design, wellbeing and Liberating Structures, Paul and Martin revisit a recurring lesson: however advanced the technology becomes, meetings remain fundamentally human spaces. Dialogue, trust, reflection, self-awareness and genuine participation cannot simply be automated.

The conversation also turns to the often-invisible role of small-f facilitation: the people inside organisations who quietly help groups work better, manage tensions, create connection and enable collaboration, even when facilitation is not formally part of their job title.

Along the way, they ask difficult but timely questions about productivity, burnout, organisational pressure and whether AI is really helping us do less — or simply helping us do more.

A thoughtful episode about AI, human limits, better meetings and the invisible architecture that makes collaboration possible.

Episode 63 goes live on 29 September.
